Taag 777

What a pleasant surprise to fly with TAAG, after reading mostly bad reviews. I checked in online 36 hours before the flight. Boarding went fine. Flight attendants were polite (though not overly friendly). I sat at the emergency exit during the first leg of my flight and had huge leg room. Note that it is colder there, so be prepared. Also, no window aligned with the seat, but a tiny window in the emergency exit's door, gave me a bit of a view when I stretched forward. The blanket supplied is thin but warm.
My seat was in the first row after business class and I was served (first in economy)a warm meal with the option of fish or chicken. I had chicken which was tasty and looked good too.
  • The Boeing 777 - 300 ER is the airplane that allows you to use WiFi during the flight and gives you the best comfort during long haul flights. It has capacity for 293 passengers and 3 different flight classes. This is the airplane that will take you further!
  • The TAAG Angola Airlines (DT) Boeing 777-300ER version is used on the airlines ultra-long haul routes to Cuba, Portugal, and South America. The aircraft is configured with 12 semi-enclosed First Class suites, 56 Business Class seats that transform into a fully-flat bed, and 224 standard Economy Class seats.

For your next TAAG flight, use this seating chart to get the most comfortable seats, legroom, and recline on.

The tray and TV comes out of the arm rest, but that's no problem. TV control did not work but no problem, as it is a touch screen. Not as many movie options, but really enough to choose from. USB charging port was broken though.
Flights attendants were really polite and had no problem when I asked for another bottle of water, even when leaving the aeroplane after landing.
The second leg of my flight was just as good in row 22. There was only a fish however, but also good and tasty. More than enough leg room (I am 1.68m tall) and good recline. Both flights were a pleasure.
Luanda airport is better than I expected. More thorough security check than OR Tambo and be prepared to open your hand luggage and have it jostled around a bit.
No aircon in the waiting area, so really hot, even at 9pm (May) Keep your eye on the TV screen to see when you have to start boarding, as all announcements are in Portuguese. Buses took us to and from the aeroplanes and boarding also went smooth.Taag 777
Quite a long que at Porto airport, so try and get off the plane as quickly as possible, to avid waiting too long.
All in all a very good experience and will fly TAAG again without any hesitation.

'Whats new'

Most of Mel's aircraft were designed to fly in FS 2000 OR FS 2002 and very few were converted to FS2004 and the ones that were converted to 2004 had afew flight dynamic problems I guess one of the reason's for this was know one tweaked the air file to fly in FS2004 but they are still nice aircraft.

For FSX I wanted to do something very special for MELJET'S I wanted them to have the same Luster and flight dynamics that Mel wanted them to have without looseing or having to compromise anything. What I have done is tweak air files, And the cfg file, I have added A2A 3D Lights and Redux.

And have kept the quality of the aircraft intact. Most of the aircraft have opening engine cowlings that open for maintenance Which makes the Jet engine visible. By pressing shift + E. While at the gate the jetway will now close on the aircraft by pressing crtl + J on your key board.

MELJET'S have alway's been one of my favorite aircraft and I didn't want them to die with FS2000 & FS2002 and I thourght they would when FS9 & FSX hit the market place.

I truly believe you cannot buy and aircraft with the quality of work that has went into these aircraft. And I am proud to say I helped keep Meljets alive.
